How to Protect Your Online Business with FTC Guardian

How to Use FTC Guardian

Step 1. Choose Your Plan. On the FTC Guardian home page, click “Get FTC Guardian”. Then, select your preferred service level, such as Basic, Pro or Enterprise, and choose your billing options. For the purposes of this article, we have selected the Basic plan.

Step 2. Create Your Account. It’s easy to create an account with FTC Guardian. Simply enter the necessary information about your business and your website. 

Step 3. Access Your Basic Website Compliance Documents. Download your basic website compliance documents to read and review some general rules and regulations mandated by the FTC that every website should abide by.

You can also download any applicable PDF training modules. Click on the red “watch this” links for more information.  

Step 4. Generate a New Document. Enter your domain name, URL, email, and business address.


For Basic members, the only relevant document is your Privacy Policy. If you have multiple websites or do any form of online advertising, then you may want to upgrade your membership to Pro, as you can create and download documents for every website domain you own. Note that there is a separate privacy policy that applies.

Enterprise-level memberships provide you with access to up to 85 supplemental documents for copywriting, outsourcing, intellectual property documents, customer agreements, marketing agreements, and a separate privacy policy for online advertising. You also gain access to “Rules of the Road Strategies” and monthly online meetup forums.
